Love Month 2023

Happy February aka "love month"

Honestly, the most exciting part about February to me every year is the day after Valentines Day when all of the candy goes on sale.

For the past two-three years I spent Valentines Day with my gal pals. This Valentines Day is the first Valentines Day I have experienced as a college graduate, aka without my gal pals.

Long distance friendships SUCK!

long distance relationships SUCK!

the closest gal pal I have from college is two hours away, and let's be real: adulting is harder than I thought. They all say "adulting is hard." but I don't think anyone truly understands how hard it is until you're thrust out of school.

Even the local friendships I have back at home---we're all so busy

I went to a conference this past weekend and BIG SURPRISE:

the conference was on RELATIONSHIPS

The first topic discussed at the conference was:

"Can God really be trusted with the relationships in your life?"

The speaker went on to say how there are particular areas of our life we don't trust God with, but the reality is that we are supposed to trust Him with every area of our life

but... let's be honest... we don't.

I know for me personally, I'm a control freak.

I like to have control.

Truth be told, as much as I want control I'll never have it no matter what I do, and if by some magic potion I'd have it... I would lose my mind and screw it up because as humans we weren't designed with the power to control how life works.

yes, we have the ability to make decisions, but we have no control over where those decisions will take us.

I have no control over whether this relationship will last or not.

I can do my best to show the person that I care and that I want it to last, but that doesn't mean that it will.

With that being said, I have to give all of my relationships over to God and commit to trusting Him with them because He has my best interest at heart.

I think sometimes we try to "gatekeep" relationships whether they are friendships, romantic, family-related, etc. But gatekeeping our relationships isn't healthy because no matter what we do God's will is going to be done, and "gatekeeping" people we love isn't going to stop God's will.

God is our only guarantee, so cling to Him and trust in He who is love.

your friend,

Lauren
